Predicted Nap Windows

A predicted nap window is a clock range for when the next nap may fit, shown with a confidence percentage. Little Nap Premium estimates that window by mixing age-based wake bounds with your baby’s recent completed sleeps. An example from the app is “Start nap 15:39–15:59” at 86% confidence. The window is an estimate. It cannot guarantee that a baby will sleep then.

How Little Nap predicts nap windows

What a predicted nap window looks like

Little Nap does not only say “nap soon.” Premium names a start range and a confidence percentage. The Insights screen can show a similar range, such as an estimated next nap between 15:27 and 16:01, with the same confidence language and a short explanation.

That format is meant for a tired parent who needs a next step, not a chart lecture. The free app still shows awake time and history if you are not ready to pay.

How the nap-window engine works

Little Nap starts from the wake window for the baby’s age stage. It then mixes in the median wake time from valid personal sessions. The more those sessions exist, the more personal timing matters. Confidence starts in a mid range on thin history and can rise as more valid sleeps accumulate, with a small boost from personal weight.

Short naps can pull the next window earlier. Long naps and bedtime proximity can change whether a suggested nap still leaves enough wake before night. The formula summary in the engine is personal wake rhythm, last-nap adjustment, and recent schedule confidence.

  • Age fallback when logs are few
  • Personal wake median as history grows
  • Short-nap adjustment
  • Bedtime-aware caution on late naps
  • On-device explanation when the system supports it

What confidence means in Little Nap

Confidence is a percentage on the estimate, not a grade of the parent or the baby. A lower number means the engine has less personal history or a less stable recent pattern. A higher number means the recent sleeps agree more. It is not a medical probability and not a promise.

Optional reminders can fire when a window opens. They are a soft nudge. You can ignore them when the day has already moved.

Limits of predicted nap windows

Little Nap cannot guarantee sleep at a suggested time. Predictions are general, estimated guidance. They are not diagnosis, treatment, or emergency advice. Contact a clinician for health concerns.

If you travel, switch caregivers, or hit an irregular week, keep logging. The window should follow the new week rather than an older smooth one.
